BIG Cards

Had a request to make some big cards. Panic! I don't do big cards.Any way came up with these-
This one above is my favourite. A lovely picture of an old car outside a house in the snow. Backed on to some swirly paper, all from craftsuprint.

This next one, again from craftsuprint, is simply an A4 image backed on to silver mirri card,
glittered, and a bow and greeting added.
The third attempt is another craftsuprint image of Father Christmas flying through the sky.
Put together as a side stacker, some printed paper and velvet ribbon to finish.
The next 2 use Kanban products.
To ring the changes
I decided to do a foldback design. Printed off a background image to cover the inside,
used gold linen and decorative paper for the foldback and a lovely Robin topper
as the main focus.
Finally a snowman topper from Kanban.
I found some lovely papers in a download kit from nitwit collections
for the background. Used silver mirri for accents and red card for contrast.
This completes my selection suitable for men.
Watch this space for some more girlie varieties.

More Christmas Cards

Have really enjoyed making these cards using Penny Black images. This one reminds me so much of Reg running riot round the garden.
This little cat hugging a mouse is another cute image.

Used watercolour pencils to colour both of these.

This image of a hedgehog and robin was
also watercoloured, then I punched some snowflakes for decoration.
This next card is my first attempt at an easel card which seem to be very popular.Again another Reg lookalike.
Probably a little more angelic than Reg! I thought the title for this had to be
"Oh Christmas Tree"

Molly's School Sing-along

Is it really that long ago since I visited my blog?! Anyway this morning we went along to Bugle Chapel for Piccolos Christmas Sing-along and it was beautiful. All the children are 5 and under. This is a hanging they made to hang above the stage. The children came in all dressed up as angels, shepherds etc. Molly was an angel. Her Mum thinks this will be the only time Molly will look angelic! She was joining in with the songs and shaking the jingle bells.   Then to finish the morning off, Father Christmas turned up with chocolate for all of them.

Ladock and Cows

Well Ladock has been and gone. A good day was had by all, despite the weather the hall was crowded most of the day. This is my stall above  and on the right is Rosemary's. A varied selection of cards from both of us .

Today I've made up some cards using the Penny Black Christmas cow images I bought. This has given me a chance to try out the set of Promarkers I got at Exeter. They've turned out really well. I've used a Kirsty Wiseman background on the 1st one, some gingham ribbon and red glittery snowflakes.

This next one has a black and white snowflake background from Pink Petticoat with tinsel wrapped around parcel style.
Then I chose a red gingham card for the 3rd one. Finished it off with a tinsel bow, a bell and some red stars.

The 4th card I've used a Kraft card for a simple country look. Again, some gingham ribbon adds a bit of colour and gold holographic gives it some sparkle. Finally I chose a red pearl card and some green spotty ribbon to set off the cow with a wreath and a 'noel 'button for a greeting. Green sparkly snowflakes add a touch of colour.

Ladock Craft Fair

Preparations are well under way for the Annual craft fair at Ladock. Unfortunately there is a weather warning out for tomorrow so will we get any customers?

I have had some fun with some Tilda cards, bought the images from a lovely lady on ebay.  She stamps and colours the images and I have set them into cards.

I chose the pastel blue  variety  this time and have mostly put them on to white card, then had fun making snowflakes  for embellishment.

On a couple of the cards I chose to use background pictures from Crafter's Companion Cute Christmas

CD, which worked really well. Will definitely be looking to buy some more images in the near future
Lets hope someone turns up tomorrow!

Little Halloween Munchkin

Time to share this photo of our little halloween munchkin- Molly. She pinched her outfit from Olivia. This is her witch's smile- scary!
Not a lot happening at the moment. We had a good time with Ian and Gail when they visited last weekend.
Yesterday Olivia had her appointment to have her leg seen to. The full leg cast has been taken off and replaced with a lower leg one for support while her knee recovers and starts to work again. Then that comes off in 2 weeks time.

More Christmas

Not much to report, very quiet week this week, though do have Molly for the day tomorrow. So I've caught up on making a few more christmas cards for my stock box. First some Disney princesses. This is Sleeping Beauty, very pretty in pink.

Then we have Cinderella, cool in blues and mint. Finally Belle takes the stage, in a more traditional pallete of red, green and gold.

For the boys We have Bob the Builder on a background of colourful stockings.

Polka Doodles Challenge 22

Here's my attempt at this week's challenge, again to follow a sketch.

I used a polka dot background from candy doodles, an image from scrapbookingmad, ribbon from my stash and punched foam snowflakes.

New Baby Cards

Not much happening in life at the moment. Struggling to cope with the postal strike, ebay orders don't work without Royal Mail.

Have been trying to make some cards for my Ladock Craft Fair stock. Here's some baby cards. And here's 2 of my favourite style of baby cards using the little bootees that I knit.

Todays efforts

Here's a few cards I've made today. First a new home card for my Dad.  Polka Doodles materials.

Then I added to my christmas stock, courtesy of Scrapbookingmad again. This is from the skiing polar bear snowglobe download. I used half the elements on one card and the rest on this card-

Polka Doodles Challenge 21

Just a quick note to post my entry into Polka Doodles Challenge. All products from Candy Doodles cd.
The challenge was to follow a sketch. I've added a pink dotty ribbon and a clear gem for effect.

Allsorts

Been absent for too long! So this could be a long episode.
We had our flight to the Isles of Scilly, great fun , much prefer the trip by helicopter rather than boat, even if the cost is prohibitive! Fantastic views of Penzance and Land's End. The Isles are lovely for a quick visit, not sure what you'd do on a longer visit. Certainly need good weather while you're there.

Have finally got my cardmaking bug back again. I lost it for a while after Olivia's accident- that knocked me for six. Then with David having time off last week, there wasn't time. So this week I'm back in full flow.
Have made a start on some Christmas cards. This "Football Santa" may go in to the competition at Scrapbookingmad.

Then today I've made a few cards from a kit by Kanban that I bought from QVC. Some have back views to the characters which adds a certain something to the cards. Photos don't really do these justice, they are much nicer in real life.

Have also made a couple of cards using a download I won from Scrapbookingmad for entering their September competition. I came 5th, not bad for my first attempt. And here's the card I entered-you had to follow a sketch.

Good news this week, Olivia has started back at nursery. She is a lot more confident with her cast as time goes by . She is moving around on her bottom and hoisting herself up on to the sofa. Maybe eventually she will be able to walk on it.The doctor did say she could.
At the weekend it was Becca's 30th birthday! From now on I will have to lie about her age as I can't possibly have a daughter that age! I forgot to photo her card. Will have to have it back one day.

Eden Sunshine

On Friday we decided to go for a quick walk around Eden with the little ones . At least  now we can just pop down there when ever we fancy as it's only 10 minutes away and we have our local return tickets. Anyway it was pleasantly sunny and quite warm . Olivia is quite happy to be pushed in her pushchair at the moment, and both her and Molly love the ride down there in the bendy bus. We all had " hearty veg soup " and Eden bread for lunch-very nice too.
Tomorrow David and I are off to the Isles of Scilly by helicopter so hopefully should get some nice photos.

OUCH

When I had that flash of inspiration to start my own blog little did I know how little time I would have to put to it. Life takes you on such a windy road you never know what is around the next corner. And in our case it usually hits you head on! This weekend for instance, started out well with a visit to the ICHF show at Exeter which was brilliant. Me, Mum, Kirsten and Rosemary had a great day spending too much money! and  picking up lots of ideas along the way. I treated myself to a couple of packs of Promarkers, some lovely new papers and decoupage.
Then on Sunday we get the terrible news that our 3yr old granddaughter Olivia has broken her leg. She was at the park with her Mummy and Daddy, her most favourite place in the whole world, when it happened. Somehow, coming down the "big" slide on her Daddy's lap, her leg gets twisted around and it breaks. So now her whole leg is in a cast for 4 weeks. It makes me feel ill just thinking about the pain she must have been in.

So consequently I haven't felt like cardmaking for a few days even though all that new stash is sitting there looking at me. However I did make a card for Olivia.

Wednesday 23 September 2009

What a day it's been today! Everything I have listed on ebay suddenly went mad. Biggest problem was helping a lady in Turkey buy my cord jacket. We eventually got there.
Most of the bootees are going and the little jumpers too. With all that going on I've not had much time for anything else. Did try out some ideas for hubby's birthday card but this is top secret at the moment.

This card is one of the cards I made at the weekend. It is from a Kanban kit I bought from QVC.

Polka Doodles Challenge 18

Here is a little card I have created for the Polka Doodles challenge-" diy flowers".

I decided to knit my flowers and added beads for the centre and ribbon loops for leaves.

It then took me ages to work out how to present them! Eventually I plumped for Polly Polkadoodle sitting in the 'garden'. Have used both Sugar Birdies and Candy Doodles for inspiration.
For the greeting I used one of the circular 'buttons', curled some strips of paper, then added another knitted flower on top.

A Card for Clare's Weekly Challenge

Hello

I have been neglecting my blog for a few days. After last weekend I have been feeling a bit tired and deflated.

This morning I decided to have a go at Clare Curd's weekly challenge, which is to make a card with a paper pleat. So this is what I came up with. Again I used a picture downloaded from Craftsuprint using my favourite subject at the moment- elegant ladies. I set her against a black background and inserted a vellum fan behind her.
Yesterday was a "Molly" day again. Kirsten and Olivia came over and after going to fetch Molly from pre-school we had an afternoon of play. The girls love hide and seek at the moment, but always give the game away with all their giggling! You spend all your time trying to pretend you don't know where they are.
This afternoon I was asked to come up with a card for a 12 year old boy. Not my favourite subject, but cars was the brief. Will post photos over the weekend.
